About

Bruno Alves is a Policy Advisor at the European Commission Directorate General Communications Networks, Content and Technology (DG CONNECT), working on digital innovation policy and blockchain. He is responsible for the development of the European Blockchain Partnership, a joint initiative launched in 2018 by the European Commission and Member State governments to create secure, resilient and highly performant European Blockchain Services Infrastructure that will support the delivery of innovative cross-border digital public services in Europe. Before joining the European Commission he was the Head of Nike Inc.'s European Public Policy Unit in Brussels. During his time at Nike he also served as elected President of the European Federation of the Sporting Goods Industry (FESI) and Board Member of leading European think-tank "Sport & Citizenship". In 1998 he moved from the Council of Europe in Strasbourg to Brussels to join Ernst & Young and launch an advisory practice for the Technology, Communication and Entertainment (TCE) industries. He started his career in Portugal's national public television and radio broadcaster (RTP) and has 20 years' experience in international public policy having worked in Lisbon, London, Strasbourg and Brussels. Bruno holds a Diploma in European Community Law from King's College University, London.
